How do you know you are on the best diet for fat loss? Well, a good indicator would be that you feel like you can eat like this forever.
Most diets restrict you from either a certain food group or some food sources.
When we restrict something from someone, you eventually open the flood gates to a binge.
This is why I am going to go into what is the best diet for fat loss and give you some pointers when you decide to start a certain diet.
Check it out below.
Why Diets Fail
The two biggest reasons why diets fail are because they are too restrictive and there is no plan after your diet.
Let’s address the restrictive nature of diets first.
When someone tells you that you cannot have something, you want that thing more.
Now, for some people that urge is so strong because they have suppressed all cravings, they end up cracking and binge eating hard.
However, there’s some that know that it’s just a pattern.
Having said that, you can still enjoy your favorite foods in moderation and not have it break your diet in half. Too often people assume (it maybe you too,) that if you eat something that’s “bad” for you, you will put on fat right away.
That cannot be further than the truth. There is no food that has that much power. The only way you’ll start to gain a significant amount of body fat is if you eat in a caloric surplus. (And also if you are not moving around much daily or doing any form of exercise.)
Identifying with this belief has lead to diets having a 95% failure rate! It’s not that diets don’t work, it’s that most people are too restrictive.
It’s okay to enjoy the foods you like, in moderation.
It’s okay to have a drink or two, in moderation.
When we go full cold turkey you’re setting yourself up for some real trouble.
For this reason, it’s important to be flexible! 80 percent of the time eat whole foods, and 20 percent of the time enjoy your favorite foods in moderation.
And remember, eating in a calorie deficit is the key to losing weight.
How to Diet Successfully
Now, the most important aspect of keeping the weight off is not to eat like you have not seen food in 11 years.
If you do that, well…you’ll put the weight on faster then Usain Bolt finishes 100-meter races!
This is why doing a reverse diet will help you tremendously!
What is a reverse diet you may ask?
A reverse diet is when you slowly add calories back into your diet when you have lost the weight that you have wanted.
The reason you want to add calories back slowly into your diet is that you can begin the process of speeding up your metabolism.
When we diet, our metabolism has to slow down because your body notices that fewer calories are coming in. When this happens, your body begins to reserve energy and slow it’s metabolism down.
This is why when people lose weight and begin eating a boatload, they put on all the body fat that they lost. This phenomenon happens due to your metabolic rate slowing down!
Therefore, once you lose the weight, have a plan!
Add a small number of calories every week or two.
For example, adding 35-40 calories is a conservative approach to fixing your metabolic rate.
Take-Home Points
The best diet for fat loss is the one you can stick to forever. If you feel like this diet is too much of a burden on you because of how restrictive it is, well you move on from it.
Once you have found a diet that you enjoy, and you have lost the weight, reverse diet.
Reverse diet by slowly adding calories in will help you speed up your metabolism and repair your metabolic rate.
If you’re wondering what diet I recommend, it is flexible dieting.
Flexible dieting is simply tracking your calories and macros. It is the most balanced way you can eat and helps you enjoy your favorite foods on a budget!
